The Sailing Program at Go Home:

Programs run 9am- 3pm, Monday- Friday. We recommend that you register for 2 weeks where possible as 1 week is generally not enough time to develop the skills required to achieve a level. That said, 1 week is still a great option.

The Canadian Yachting Association CANSail program consists of levels that take you through basic sailing skills, boat control basics, knot tying, boat and water safety, basic weather knowledge, and basic sailing terminology. No prior sailing knowledge is required, however, your child must be comfortable in the water to join the program. In addition to learning we also include a variety of games and fun activities to round out each session. The

CANSail 1 & 2 introductory program focuses on fun, safety and fundamental sailing skills. Sailors will learn skills including boat balance, sail trim, heading up, tacking, gybing, leadership, knots, basic weather patterns, docking and sailing terminology. These skills are creatively crafted into fun and unique lessons by our team of qualified and experienced instructors both on and off the water.

CANSail 3 & 4 progressively builds and develops the skills in CANSail 1 & 2, with a focus on keeping the sailor engaged with appropriate learning opportunities. This program focuses on teamwork, boat balance and steering in various conditions, appropriate sail trim for accelerating and stopping, sailing upwind, rounding marks via gybing and tacking, tactics and strategy in regatta participation and seamanship. Our instructors develop engaging lessons that help to build these skills whilst providing an exciting day of on the water sailing activities these sailors love.

Each week we usually also have adventure sails and/or theme days and our famous paper plate awards at week’s end.
