Marathon
From Sharps’ cottage around outside of Pig Island to Main Dock rock.
Under 10s swim from Rose Island (across from Scott MacDonald’s cottage in Riddells Bay)
Go Home Bay Marathon Rules:
General
- Swimmers may not touch or hold onto a boat or other watercraft at any point during the swim.
- Swimmers may not stand on or walk across land at any point during the swim (scraping your knees on the Pig Island shoal is acceptable).
- Under 10s may use a flotation aid (e.g., a life jacket, water wings, or poodle noodle); for other age groups, flotation aids are permitted.
Course
- The course for all age groups other than Under 10s is from the Sharp’s rock, outside Pig Island, to the Main Dock rock.
- The course for Under 10s is from Rose Island (across from Scott MacDonald’s cottage in Riddells Bay) to the Main Dock rock.
Eligibility
- Eligibility: Cottagers and guests from sites in good standing as of noon on Marathon day may participate and receive ribbons.
Age Groups
- Age is as of July 31st. Each competitor can compete in only one age group.
Prizes
- Participation ribbons are awarded in the Under 10 category, and for all competitors who complete the swim.
